Selma, Alabama – Mayor Darrio Melton has announced $75,000 in grant match funds the City of Selma has received to enhance outdoor recreation opportunities downtown Selma. The award was made through Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs’ Federal Land and Water Conversation Fund.
Last summer the City of Selma launched its broadband initiative and made WiFi available on the Riverfront. “With the addition of the splash pad,” Mayor Melton stated, “families have more amenities to enjoy downtown.” The splash pad is another step closer to enhancing the Riverfront.
“We are very excited and motivated for the youth of Selma now that we can envision another important piece of the city’s master plan come to fruition,” Henry Thompson stated. The project is set to open up for construction bids next week.
